Wayne A. Williams

Elder Wayne A. Williams is the eighth child of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Williams of Walls, Mississippi.  He was saved at the early age of twelve at the St. Paul Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Mississippi.  Rev. Williams earned his B.S. degree at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, in 1982 and a degree was completed in the Biblical languages at Southeastern Bible College and Seminary in Birmingham, Alabama.  He earned his master of Divinity Degree from Phillips School of Theology at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia.  He is a recipient of three honorary doctorate degrees, the last of which is the Doctors of Laws Degree from the Union Baptist Theological Seminary in Toledo, Ohio.  Currently he is completing a doctorate of ministry degree from Louisville Theological Seminary.  He will be the “third” African-American to complete a doctorate in the Seminary’s entire 155 year history! 

Elder Williams is a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. On November 29, 1981, the grand Master of Price Hall Masons of Mississippi named a Masonic Lodge in his honor {Wayne A. Williams Lodge #709} located at the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  Other Masonic orders include Eastern Star, Heroines of Jericho, 32 Degree Mason, Royal Arch, Knights of Templar, past Master and Shrines’.  He is a member of the Urban League and the NAACP. 

Rev. Dr. Wayne A. Williams is currently the Dean (Shreveport Branch) of the Interdenominational Theological Center Extension Program (eighteen month program) of the I.T.C. of Atlanta, Georgia (Two classes have completed this program under his administration (Class of 2004 & Class of 2006). Elder Williams was the first (Connectional Young Adult President) to be elected consecutively for two terms in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (1988-1996).  He is on the Board of Trustees Phillips School of Theology at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia and he is on the Board of Trustees of the Union Baptist Theological Seminary in Toledo, Ohio.  He holds membership on the advisory board of the Foundation of the Mid-South in Jackson, Mississippi, and he holds a board seat with the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church Community Development Corporation (CMECCDC).  He holds membership on the advisory board of the Faith Base initiative of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the Fourth Episcopal District representative on the board of the “One Church-One School Partnership of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (founded by Bishop Henry M. Williamson, Sr.).  Elder Williams is also a board member of the Louisiana Interfaith Council which comprises all denominations in the state of Louisiana. He has been a delegate six times to the General Conference of the C.M.E. Church.  

 In his “teenage years” Elder Williams aided the late Bishop Joseph A. Johnson, Jr.  He has served as administrative assistant to Bishop E. Lynn Brown, the Presiding Prelate of the Second Episcopal District, Bishop Paul A.G. Stewart, the Presiding Prelate of the Third Episcopal District, Bishop Thomas L. Hoyt, Jr., The Presiding Prelate of the Seventh Episcopal District, and presently Bishop Thomas L. Brown, Sr., Presiding Prelate of the Fourth Episcopal District.  He is the Executive Director of the Life Early Child Development located in Bassfield, Mississippi, and the Executive Director of Community and Economic Development of the Fourth Episcopal District of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. 

Besides his duties as the Administrative Assistant to Bishop Thomas L. Brown, Sr., Rev. Dr. Williams serves as the Pastor of Calvary Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, in Buffalo, NY.  He is the former Presiding Elder of the Shreveport District.
