PEACE WITH JUSTICE WEEK RESOURCES AVAILABLE FROM NCC/CWS Since 1982, NCC member communions, regional and local ecumenical groups, congregations and individuals across the United States have observed an annual Peace With Justice Week at a time of their choosing. In 2002-2003, the program is being reviewed and updated through the NCC's international humanitarian ministry, Church World Service, and its office of Education and Advocacy for International Justice and Human Rights. During the transition, resources for Peace With Justice Week observances continue to be available from NCC and CWS, with ideas for congregations, ecumenical and community groups, even concerned individuals and families. It offers an opportunity to: Envision the role of the churches for international justice as affirmed in the Pillars of Peace for the 21st Century, an NCC policy statement on the United Nations. Support the United Nations International Year for a Culture of Peace by signing the Manifesto 2000 to launch the Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World. Adopt the Hague Agenda for Peace and Justice for the 21st Century, sponsored by a coalition of civil society organizations. Join the call of the World Council of Churches to observe a Decade to Overcome Violence that will make a difference in homes, local communities, within nations and around the world.
