'Best Practices' Fest Planned for 2001 General Assembly

Good Works That Work

"...Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works
and give glory to God in heaven" (Matthew 5:16).

"Best Practice" is a term that has gained currency in our society . . . a society widely marked by a search for excellence. As they live out their faith commitment to serve others, congregations and other faith-based organizations also seek "a more excellent" way and often develop creative and effective practices that improve life in their communities.

Ecumenical organizations, including the NCC, are positioned to learn of many of these efforts and have long been about the business of sharing and helping to replicate good models.

Best Practices Fest 2001
  • What? Come experience a festival with lots to see, explore, and learn at the 2001 General Assembly in Oakland. Discover some exciting ways to be in mission in your community. Ecumenical organizations will be sharing through displays the myriad and creative ways they give life to the church's mission.

  • Why? Because we can benefit from learning what others are doing, we know we don't always have to start from scratch. We are called to share our gifts with one another.

  • Where?  The Fest will take place in a special area set aside at the Oakland Marriott City Center on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 12-13, 2001.

  • How can we participate? You may choose to exhibit your best practice with a display or presentation and have a representative on hand to answer questions. Or you might choose to send photos and a brief description of your ministry to share with others.

  • What's my next step?   Print out and complete the form below.  The deadline for submitting the form is October 1, 2001. Notification of exhibitors' participation will be made by October 15. At that time you will receive specific guidelines and instructions for your display.
