Ministries in Christian Education

MCE is an umbrella -- currently 16 ecumenical program committees. These committees represent the work that the denominations cooperatively perform in a congregational/educational ministry. They are comprised primarily of national staff of participating denominations.

Program Ministries have been organized into clusters in curriculum support and leadership, and include racial/ethnic and language specific committees, family and age level ministries, and committees on special needs/special settings. Involved MCE committees continue to generate materials for church education leaders, plan training events, and provide the ecumenical forum for inter-denominational exchange and planing.

In 1995 the Program Board affirmed the development of committees for Hispanic and Native American congregational ministers as well as issue explorations in congregational spirituality (the interface between education and spiritual formation and practices) and church education as it relates to the increased religious and cultural pluralism of society.
