NCC, Church Women United, accepting applications
for Young Women's Leadership Experience at UN

New York, December 13, 2011 -- The National Council of Churches and Church Women United are accepting applications for Young Women’s Leadership Experiences, to be held February 24 to 29, 2012 at the United Nations, along with the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

This five-day experience will provide orientation on the 2012 CSW theme: The empowerment of rural women and their role in poverty and hunger eradication, development and current challenges. As visitors to the UN-CSW, participants will get a taste of the UN events and participate in exciting side-events.

The application deadline is January 6, 2012. Six applicants will be accepted and notified by January 13, 2012.

Selected participants will be responsible for their travel cost, $100 registration, and five meals. NCC and CWU will cover housing, additional meals, and events. Although limited additional scholarship is available, the Council and CWU invite applicants and their member communions to consider financially supporting a young woman in this leadership experience.
