Role in the World: NCC Supports Effort For 5,000 Critical-Issue Public Dialogues Across America Note: Grant Application Deadline Extended to October 15! Between Sept. 13 and the end of October 2004, local communities across the U.S. will be invited to address critical global issues by participating in non-partisan public dialogues as part of The People Speak series. Religions for Peace-USA (RFP-USA), an interfaith partner of the National Council of Churches, will be offering mini-grants of up to $500 per site to local religious communities to support the hosting of dialogue events. A broad consortium of 25 cooperating organizations will also join in, creating an anticipated 5,000 discussions in all 50 states. The purpose of The People Speak is to engage all Americans, including people of faith, in the discussion on America's role in the world. From September to October, high schools, colleges, religious communities, civic and business groups, will be asked to organize events around one or more of the following topics:

Mini-grant application are embedded in a toolkit, which also includes a promotional strategy guide, a dialogue moderator's guide, and much more. The application process is simple.
