Video 'Korea's Hope' features PCUSA's Dr. Syngman Rhee, NCC/CWS Korea Consultation

September 20, 2003, NEW YORK CITY -- A new video seeks to help American Christians understand why the question of North Korea has become such an issue for our government.

"Korea's Hope: Reconciliation and Peace" was produced in support of reconciliation and reunification on the Korean Peninsula -- and in opposition to any movement toward military action against North Korea.

The 29-minute video centers around the life story of the Rev. Dr. Syngman Rhee, a Korean American born in North Korea who has been President of the National Council of Churches USA and Moderator of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

The video includes coverage of the June 2003 NCC/Church World Service Consultation on the Korea Crisis, at which religious leaders from South Korea and the United States joined humanitarian experts in calling for the U.S. government to promote a peaceful solution to the crisis.

Contact your denominational resource center, or order "Korea's Hope: Reconciliation and Peace" from the National Training Center for Resource Center Directors, 1310 Whitby Road, Richmond, VA 23227; 804-354-9953.  VHS; $20 postpaid.
