Faye Wattleton to Address Women’s History Month Celebration

Faye Wattleton Biographical Sketch

Faye Wattleton, President of the Center for Gender Equality, will address “Women’s Equality” at a Women’s History Month Celebration, set for noon Thursday, March 30, 2000, in the Chapel of The Interchurch Center, 475 Riverside Drive at 120th Street, New York City.  She will offer a snapshot assessment of women’s rights today in such areas as health, economics and religion, and propose a direction and motivation for the future. 

The celebration, sponsored by the National Council of Churches, also will feature The Interchurch Center’s Gospel Choir and several readings.  A reception will follow. 

The Center for Gender Equality is a not-for-profit research, policy development and education institution created in 1995 to promote strategies for dismantling the obstacles that impede full equality for women.  Ms. Wattleton was President of the Planned Parenthood Federation from 1978-92, “growing” it to become the nation’s seventh largest charity. 

She is a celebrated lecturer whose views on issues of women’s equality,` health care and civil rights continue to be sought by organizations, opinion and political leaders around the world including a wide spectrum of major media.
