Church World Service addresses the global HIV and AIDS crisis by:
- Increasing the capacity of overseas partners to carry out community-based prevention, care, and treatment programs.
Council on Religious AIDS Networks is an open and respectful forum that empowers and mobilizes prophetic witness and ministries by faith communities in response to the global HIV and AIDS pandemic. The website offers an extensive AIDS ministry database, resources and helpful links.
Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance (EAA) is a new and broadly ecumenical network of more than 85 churches and church-related organizations committed to international cooperation in advocacy on HIV and AIDS and global trade. The website contains extensive information, workshop and worship resources, and opportunities for advocacy and ecumenical collaboration. A highlight of the site is the submissions from the International HIV and AIDS Poster Competition in several formats.
Lutheran World Relief: A 16 page paper entitled, “Responding to HIV and AIDS” summarizing work that LWR is facilitating in Africa.
Mennonite Central Committee has launched a 10-year multi-million dollar initiative called Generations at Risk to respond to the growing HIV and AIDS pandemic. The website contains a list of HIV and AIDS Projects, stories, a quiz, resources and opportunities for involvement.
United Church of Canada The Beads of Hope Campaign is an awareness raising, advocacy, and fundraising campaign the United Church has launched to respond to the HIV and AIDS pandemic. The website contains campaign materials, progress reports, education and worship resources, and opportunities to take action.
The Washington Office on Africa (WOA) is a church-sponsored not-for-profit advocacy organization seeking to articulate and promote a just American policy toward Africa. Numerous policy papers and opportunities for advocacy are available on this web site.
African Methodist Episcopal Church
- The Balm In Gilead is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization with an international mission to stop the spread of HIV and AIDS throughout the African Diaspora by building the capacity of faith communities to provide AIDS education and support networks for all people living and affected by HIV and AIDS. The web site includes forums, articles, numerous programs of the Black Church AIDS network, and various resources. The African Methodist Episcopal Church and African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church endorses this ministry.

The Episcopal Church of the USA
- The Episcopal AIDS Alliance’s mission is to act as a network of Episcopalians using our influence to educate, advocate and act on the needs of Africans -- particularly women and children who are most vulnerable to HIV and AIDS -- through our Anglican identity and mission.
- Episcopal Relief and Development An HIV and AIDS Theological Initiative developed by MAP International is being funded by Episcopal Relief and Development. The pilot program incorporates HIV and AIDS training into the curriculum of four Anglican theological institutions in South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya, following on a successful start with St. Paul’s United Theological College in Limuru. Plans are underway to expand the initiative next year to include other institutions in Botswana, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Angola, Rwanda, Uganda, Malawi, and Namibia, eventually reaching 20 theological colleges of various denominations in nine countries.

The National Episcopal AIDS Coalition was formed in 1988 in response to those affected and infected by AIDS. It is a membership organization with approximately 1,500 members. The NEACTion, a newsletter, is published three times a year to help connect those whose lives have been affected by HIV and AIDS.

The Diocese of Bethlehem Task Force HIV and AIDS Task Force’s focus and hope is that all churches will open their doors to people affected by this disease, and will enter this ministry with knowledge and compassion.
- Washington
The Episcopal Diocese of Washington’s office of Community Ministries and Outreach has an HIV and AIDS ministry, which includes an active partnership with Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington (SMGW) to provide financial support, volunteers and referrals. SMGW is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing people who are in need to help themselves. It provides case workers, counselors and training and offers extensive resource and referral network information.

There are 42 million people living around the world with HIV and AIDS. Of these, 95 per cent are in the developing world. And the crisis continues to grow, exacerbating existing emergencies, reversing development gains, and creating new crises on a global scale. Can you imagine a world without AIDS?
