"This presentation made this very complex issue clear to me. I think everyone should see it so they know what is going on."
Comments of a focus group participant, 1996

Changes in the healthcare system have come so quickly that it is nearly impossible for the educated layperson to stay abreast of what these changes mean. RCC has produced a 25 minute video which takes audiences through these changes one step at a time. This presentation uses cartoon construction workers who disassemble and reassemble different sectors of the healthcare system to help us understand how the healthcare system is being radically transformed.

One goal of this presentation is education, informing participants about the changes in the way we get our medical care.

Another emphasis is to create an opportunity for a group to identify the issues and struggle with the questions which must be addressed in order that we might have a health care system that works as it should. And finally, there are opportunities for the audience to discuss, and struggle to address the questions:
· how does the healthcare system work,
· what we can do when it does not,
· and, what we can do to create a system that takes into account the people we care about.

In addition, Resources for the Civic Conversation will be happy to provide your group with the latest information on the health care system. We may be able to facilitate a Healthcare Issues Event, suggest speakers, provide factual materials, or help you to think about how your group can become more involved in shaping the healthcare system of the future.
