Events Scheduled to Mark First Anniversary of the
Invasion of Iraq

Schedule includes 10 a.m. to noon workshops at Seattle First
Baptist Church (at the intersection of Union, Seneca and Harvard); 11 a.m.
Interfaith Memorial Service at the church and participation in a 1 p.m. rally
downtown, to feature Ed Asner and others on five themes: ending the Iraq
occupation, redirecting money spent on war to human needs, ending the war on
immigrants and civil liberties, resolving the crisis in Israel/Palestine, and
easing the hardships faced by U.S. soldiers and veterans. For more

People of all faiths will gather for a silent walk around the Alfred P. Murrah
Building site in downtown Oklahoma City in conjunction with other peace
gatherings around the world to mark the date of the U.S. invasion of Iraq one
year ago. The walk is an expression of hope for justice and healing in
that war-torn nation. Sponsored by a coalition of individuals from local

Noon, March 20, Demonstration in Front of Fox News (Channel 13)
The Tampa Interfaith Peace With Justice Network will hold a
demonstration in front of Fox News, Channel 13, 3213 W. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa,
Fla., from noon to 1 p.m. on March 20. Say the organizers, "Last spring
the world community witnessed the largest global anti-war protests in human
history as a response to George W. Bush’s threats to invade Iraq. Leading up
to and during the Iraq invasion and occupation, mainstream U.S. media failed
the needs of a democracy by rarely asking the tough questions and
investigating the facts. 'Democracy abhors a submissive press!' is the theme
of the Tampa protests. The protest will challenge mainstream media do its job,
to invest in investigative reporting and critical analysis, so that the public
can fully debate crucial issues of war and peace with justice. For more
