2004 General Assembly ONLINE REGISTRATION and MEETING INFORMATION

The 2004 National Council of Churches/Church World Service General Assembly will meet November 9-11, 2004, at the Sheraton St. Louis City Center in St. Louis, Missouri.  St. Louis is an exciting and attractive city on the banks of the Mississippi River making it the center of the westward growth of our country, religion, commerce, sports, music and art over the last 150 years. 

The General Assembly schedule will include:

• An orientation for first-time participants at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 9.  This may mean that you need to arrive in St. Louis on Monday evening.

• Communion lunches on Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m.  This gives communion delegates an opportunity to meet face-to-face before the opening plenary to get acquainted and to discuss your communion's approach to the business issues before the Assembly.

• Business sessions beginning 2:15 p.m. Tuesday and continuing through 5 p.m. Thursday, November 11. 

• A special event Thursday evening, November 11, to close the Assembly.  Please plan to stay for it -- arrange your transportation for a late Thursday evening or Friday morning departure.

• A "heavy hors d'oeuvres" reception on Tuesday with leaders of the local judicatories. 

• Public worship Tuesday evening at Christ Church Episcopal Cathedral, about six blocks from the hotel.

• An awards luncheon at noon Wednesday, November 10.

• NO official Assembly event Wednesday evening -- giving opportunity to meet with local constituents or just to take a break.

Again this year we are sponsoring a Young Adult Stewards program and, on Monday, November 8, a Young Adult Pre-Event.  Young adult delegates and local young adults are welcome!

By phone -- (314) 231-5007 and ask for the National Council of Churches group rate. OR

Online -- Click Starwood Meeting, which will take you to a page that identifies you as a participation in the NCC/CWS General Assembly, at the special rate.

All hotel reservations must be secured with a credit card.  The room rate is $99.00 (plus 14.86% tax) for a single or double room.

The deadline date for making reservations at this special rate is October 8, 2004.  All reservations made after this date are subject to a charge at the prevailing standard rate at the discretion of the Sheraton St. Louis City Center.

Check-in time is 3:00pm.  If you expect to arrive before this time, and do not have a meeting to attend, we suggest you pack leisure clothing in a separate bag so you can change and start enjoying the facility.  The hotel will arrange baggage storage until your room is available.

The Sheraton St. Louis City Center is in full ADA compliance.

How to get to The Sheraton City Center St Louis ...

   From the Airport:

Cab – a cab to the Hotel will cost $40-$45.

MetroLink – take St. Louis’ light rail system from the airport to the “Kiel/Savvis Center” stop for $3.00.  The Hotel is directly across the street from the station exit. www.metrostlouis.org 

Drive -- take Interstate 170 South from Lambert Airport to Interstate 64/40 East.  Take the 14^th Street exit and turn left at the light at the bottom of the ramp.  The hotel is immediately on your right.

By Car:

            from the South:  take Interstate 55 North to the Lafayette Street exit.  Turn right on Lafayette Street and travel one block to 14^th Street.  Turn left onto 14^th Street.  Go five blocks and the hotel will be on the right hand side of the street.

            from the East:  take Interstate 64/Interstate 40 West to the 9^th Street exit.  Go left on Spruce for 2 blocks to Tucker and go right on Tucker.  Go 2 blocks to Clark Street and turn right.  Continue 2 blocks to 14^th Street, turn left and continue for 2 blocks.

from the West:  take Interstate 70 East to the Memorial Drive exit.  Proceed on Memorial Drive for 7 blocks to Spruce Street.  Turn right onto Spruce Street and travel 10 blocks to 14^th Street.  Turn left onto 14^th Street and the hotel will be on the left side of the street.
