Peace Talks: 2006 Outdoor Ministry Resource

Get a head start on next summer’s curriculum, Peace Talks.  The sixth title in the New Earth:  Christian Resources for the Outdoors, Peace Talks is a collaborative effort of the Committee on Outdoor Ministry of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA and the Cooperative Publication Association.  Learn how it is organized and how to create the program resources from it that fit the needs of your site.  Explore the daily discoveries and scripture passages that follow along with them.  Learn about group-building, nature and creative art activities and resources for worship and outreach.

An all-inclusive resource, Peace Talks has everything you need for a transforming Christian camp experience.  Complete with CD-ROM and reproducible pages, Peace Talks lets you tailor curriculum and create your own resources to fit the needs of your site, your program, and your staff.  And because you buy it once and use it all summer, you can always have exactly the right resources for every leader and participant of every age.

DISCOVERIES

Discovery 1: Peace Talks-Aloha (Genesis 18:1-8) Abraham and Sarah welcomed strangers into their home, creating a safe space for relationships. Campers are welcomed into the camp community.

Discovery 2: Peace Talks-Shalom (Genesis 1:1-2:3) Out of chaos God created a universe where all creation can live and flourish in peace. Campers learn to care for the creation just as they care for one another.

Discovery 3: Peace Talks-Be Still (Mark 4:35-41) During a storm on the Sea of Galilee, Jesus shows his power and authority to command even the wind and water. Campers practice ways to deepen their trust in God's care.

Discovery 4: Peace Talks-Agape (Luke 6:27-36) Jesus instructed his followers to love their enemies, inviting them to love everyone in the same way God loves them. Campers learn to greet all people with God's unconditional love.

Discovery 5: Peace Talks-Ubuntu (Acts 2:41-47) The community of the early church shows us a community where faith and reconciliation go hand in hand.  Campers practice ways of peace through life together in community.

Discovery 6: Peace Talks-Heiwa (Luke 4:16-21) Jesus reads from the prophet Isaiah and proclaims that God's message of peace and justice is fulfilled in him. Campers learn and understand ways they can become peacemakers when they go home.
