CWS-SPONSORED TIM JANIS RECORDING TOUR/PERFORMANCES IN SOUTH AFRICA MAY 10 AND 12 TO CALL FOR DESTIGMATIZATION OF HIV/AIDS:  

Media support work by Jan Dragin and Carol Fouke in collaboration with South African colleagues resulted in coverage by: Reuters Television and SABC-TV and an outpouring of discussion in South African media about the need to destigmatize HIV/AIDS.  Post-event, WMTV, Portland, Maine, featured musician Tim Janis, and Radio Africa International interviewed both Tim Janis and CWS staffer Bill Wildey.

CWS DELEGATION VISIT TO WEST AFRICA JULY 2-18:

A full-press media relations effort included preparation of a media kit; building media lists, and extensive advance contact work.  Carol Fouke-Mpoyo accompanied the delegation and Jan Dragin provided 24/7 support from the U.S.  Together they gathered, produced and disseminated news and feature stories and photos during the delegation’s travels and immediately thereafter; arranged coverage of the delegation in the four countries visited; scheduled media interviews for delegation members upon return to the U.S., and tailored stories especially for denominational and ecumenical media.

Media placement highlights logged by late September included: Agence France Presse, Associated Press, Global News Wire, Reuters, AP Radio, AP Television News, BBC Focus on Africa and Worldwide News, Radio France International, Reuters TV, UNI Radio News, Voice of America and Radio Africa International.
